Apologies for neglecting the blog. I wish I could say I will keep up more with it in the future, but my writing schedule, self publishing tasks (the tax reporting–OMG) and keeping up with other social media platforms–not to mention homeschooling–are eating up my time. As such, some things such as this blog are getting neglected. If you have a question regarding an existing book or upcoming one, please feel free to email me if you’d like a faster response. I do keep up with emails.
I do have an announcement. Back in late 2016, my agent took a book proposal I sent to her and put it on the submissions trail to various traditional publishing houses. At this point in my career path, I want to try out being a hybrid author (one who both self publishes and also traditionally publishes). Luckily, we got a few bites that resulted in the following announcement made late last week on a couple of the industry blogs:
“Ace Books Executive Editor Anne Sowards has acquired three fantasy romances from USA Today bestselling author Grace Draven. Sowards acquired World rights from Sarah Younger at Nancy Yost Literary Agency. The first novel, Phoenix Unbound, will release in Fall 2018 and follows a witch with power over fire and illusion and a chieftan’s son sold into slavery. The subsequent books will concentrate on other witches with different powers as well as the societal fallout of a crumbling empire.”
Anne edits for the likes of Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, Anne Bishop, Charlaine Harris and Jim Butcher, so you can see why I’m just a little stoked to be working with her on these three books.
I am also re-releasing the novella-length GASLIGHT HADES as a stand-alone story. It’s currently available as part of the BENEATH A WANING MOON duology alongside Elizabeth Hunter’s story A VERY PROPER MONSTER. Both the duology and the stand alone version will remain available at the various retailers. So if you have BaWM, you already have GH. The only difference is the stand-alone has a different cover, specific to the story, illustrated by Louisa Gallie. I hope to release GH this week. I’m currently incorporating some minor corrections my proofreader caught before sending it to my formatter.
I am working on a follow-up to GASLIGHT HADES titled GASLIGHT VIDUUS and am aiming to release that one this spring.
I hope 2017 has treated you all well so far.
Best,
Grace
